When I first saw the marble packaging and contents of the new Hourglass Surreal Lighting Palette, I knew I had to get my hands on it. After much deliberating as to whether it was worth the price, I decided to treat myself for my birthday and I haven't regretted it since.
This palette is made up of five exclusive powders ranging from blushers to bronzers, to help add a subtle glow to the skin. I was totally smitten with the idea that none of the shades will be exactly like the ones I already have in my collection and although I was dubious that they wouldn't suit my complexion, I soon realised that every shade is perfect. I have made no secret of how much I love the Hourglass ambient lighting powders and despite them being a little disappointing when swatched, once they are on the face, they perform like no other.
Surreal Light is the face powder of the palette and makes up the largest section too. With minimal shimmer and a soft powder, this creates perfect, healthy looking skin in one quick sweep. To add definition and depth to my complexion, the Surreal Bronze Light is the bronzer offering which adds warmth to my temples and cheeks when applied. After that, I go in with either of the two blushers on offer, Surreal Glow, a coral pink that brightens the skin and Surreal Effect, which is my favourite of the two as it adds just the right amount of colour for a diffused, yet subtle look. To finish, Surreal Strobe Light can be used to highlight the cheekbones; perfect for a minimal makeup day.
All of the powders on offer create a soft, natural glow to the skin, but once paired together, this palette makes applying makeup in the morning much more effective as I don't need to reach for different products. Although the palette may seem small in appearance, as the Hourglass powders last for ages, I'm sure I won't be hitting pan anytime soon.
Have you tried the Hourglass Surreal Light Palette?
