Although Spring doesn't officially start until the 20th, I'm slowly starting to transition my makeup and clean out all of my unwanted products in order to fill my stash with lots of new releases. This time of year and at the start of each season, I make it my mission to check expiry dates and throw out any makeup I've hit pan on, as a proper Spring clean never fails to make me feel better about my spending habits.
I've recently ran out of one of my favourites, the Too Faced Hangover Primer, so I thought it was about time that I switched to a new one. I picked up the Nars Radiance Primer, a new release which promises to perk up the skin instantly. I haven't been trying it for very long, so I will give the verdict in the coming weeks.
I'm planning on having a wipe down of all of my products, making sure they're casing is intact and that everything is as clean as can be. If a product cannot be saved from smashing or has been capless in the bottom of my bag for some time, I always think it's better to throw them away than risk it irritating my skin. Of course, it goes without saying that I like to have a deep clean of all of my brushes too, to ensure that I start the season with fresh feeling tools.
Perky corals and pretty pinks are always a trend once the warmer weather hits and I already know that I will purchase more of the NYX Ombre Blushers, as they have a variety of shades that look perfect for Spring. For now, I have been playing around with my new Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Palette, a product which I talked about in yesterday's blog post, as well as storing away more of my darker shades as I doubt I'll wear them much until Autumn rolls around again.
I naturally transition my lip products whenever a new season rolls around and I've started to pick out all of my favourite nudes and pinks all in glossy or satin formulas to really add a light touch of colour to the lips. Of course the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lipstick is still on my makeup menu, but I can't resist the softer colours of the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments.
If you didn't know already, you're meant to throw away your mascara every three months and if you're like me, it can be hard to remember when you first started to use that particular mascara. If you switch between only a couple of mascaras, then the start of every new season is the perfect time to remember to replace your mascara - A top tip for all of you!
Are you going to spring clean your makeup collection?
