Winter Skincare Routine

As a skincare enthusiast and as someone who suffers with temperamental skin, I tend to switch my routine up semi-regularly. Although I'm happy with the way my skin looks at the moment, the colder weather has left my complexion feeling rather parched and due to stress I've got a fair few blemishes going on too. Here are my current skincare picks:

I was lucky to receive the Pixi Double Cleanse* just as I finished my beloved Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser offering, and although I still think I'm going to repurchase MJC, the double cleanse has pleasantly surprised me. The oil side breaks down makeup instantly and the cream washes it away. I simply wipe over a soaked cotton pad of Bioderma Micellar Water* afterwards to make sure that everything has been removed thoroughly.

My biggest skincare hangup at the moment is the fact I'm getting quite a few blemishes again which often leaves scars. I've been using a new skin exfoliator, the Glossier Solution, a new release of their's which I'm still not sold on if I'm honest. It's quite intense, so I've been using it every other day and it does make my skin feel super soft, but I'm not sure if it does anything for blemishes. Make sure you keep it away from your lips as you'll be needing a whole pot of lip balm to make them feel normal again if not! The Pixi Glow Tonic* is doing the job in the meantime as it really does make my skin look in tip-top condition even when I'm not feeling 100%.

If I'm not using a glycolic acid or I just want to add an extra step into my routine, I turn to my trustworthy toners. The Fresh Deep Rose Hydration Toner and it's nearest dupe, Pixi Rose Tonic* are two I've been using a lot. They're super simple, but unlike other toners which can sometimes feel like an unnecessary step, these do make my skin feel cleaner and with consistent use, they both make my skin look plumper and healthier, especially the Fresh offering.

Face masks are a huge part of my skincare routine as I rely on them to treat my skin for certain problems. The Drunk Elephant Baby Facial is one that I can't recommend enough as this is the one I like to use when my skin needs an overhaul. It's also great paired with the Fresh Rose Face Mask* as it hydrates and plumps like no other - The perfect pairing.

Although I have quite a few moisturisers in my collection and I've gone through a phase of liking pretty much every one I purchase or get sent, I'm actually a fairly picky person when it comes to face creams. I'm currently smitten with the Clinique Moisture Surge* for the morning as it's perfection underneath makeup and for the evening I've been using the Fresh Rose Face Cream* with the Clinique Turnaround Renewal Serum* underneath. The latter wasn't something I thought would make that much difference, but so far, it's actually made my skin feel softer and smoother.

Talking of serums, I've been testing out Glossier Super Pure and so far I do like it. It doesn't dry out my complexion too much like I worried it might, but I haven't seen an overall improvement as of yet. However, I've still continued with use as I feel like it's not supposed to be a one off treatment. I've got to admit that it does calm my red skin down which is a huge plus for me. When I just want something that's super hydrating which I know my skin loves, I reach for the Odacite Peach Cypress Concentrate* to mix in with my moisturiser - It's basically glowy, hydrated skin in a bottle!
